Description

Bright lemon yellow. Complex aroma with pronounced white fruit flesh notes, well integrated into smoky roasted aromas. Notes of lime and wet stone, an ensemble in constant crescendo with multiple layers. Textured palate with subtlety and creaminess. Full and well-balanced by a vertical and tension-filled acidity. A finely crafted, long-lasting ensemble. Long finish. A classic.

Vinification

Cuvée wine from a single vineyard. The grapes for this wine come from our plot in Girabolhos, the vineyard "Vinha do Torreão." The Cuvée is mainly characterized by the grape varieties Bical, Malvasia Fina, Cerceal-Branco, and Encruzado.
Direct pressing of whole grapes. Static clarification for 24 to 36 hours. Fermentation begins in a stainless steel tank. About halfway through the fermentation process, the wine is transferred to 500-liter barrels: one-third new Hungarian oak and two-thirds second-fill French oak barrels.
Subsequently, the wine matured for about 10 months on the fine lees, without batonnage. Short further maturation and light filtration before bottling.

Código Wine kommt aus der Subregion Serra da Estrela im Dão – einer der ältesten und eigenständigsten Weinregionen Portugals. Hinter dem Projekt steht Önologe Tiago Macena, der die autochthonen Rebsorten des Dão neu interpretiert: Encruzado, Bical, Uva Cão, Touriga Nacional – jede Flasche ein eigenständiger Ausdruck der Gegend, vinifiziert mit Eichenholzfässern und traditionellen Tonamphoren.

Der Name ist Programm: Código – Geheimcode. Macena entschlüsselt, was die Reben und das Terroir der Serra da Estrela zu sagen haben. Das Ergebnis sind Weine mit Charakter und Tiefe, fern von internationalen Einheitsgeschmäckern.
